Local Art Student Honors HospiceAmanda Musgrove, an Alleghany High School art student, stands beside her painting, a to-scale enlargement of the hospice stamp. The stamp was issued by the U.S. Postal Service in recognition of the 3,000 hospices, 25,000 professionals and 100,000 volunteers that work in communities around the country. Musgrove volunteered to paint the stamp, honoring the Alleghany Hospice, on her own time. A picture (actual size) of the postage stamp that Musgrove painted is inset in the lower righthand corner of the photo. The 33-cent stamps are currently available at local post offices. |
