New Years Baby
Alleghany County's first baby born
in 1999 was Lucinda Ann Fender.
Lucinda was born Jan. 2, weighed eight
pounds two ounces and was 21
inches long. Alleghany Memorial
Hospital and several local merchants
donated gifts to the family. The child's
paternal grandparents are Susie and R.L.
Fender and maternal grandparents
are Everette and Arlene Coffing.
