by Fawn Roark

At their regularly scheduled monthly meeting, the >Alleghany County Board of Education came to an understanding of agreement with the administrators of the Alleghany schools to try to complete a finished plan to take to the county commissioners on Feb. 1.

Alleghany High School, Glade Creek, Piney Creek, and Sparta elementary schools each have plans to renovate and create additions. The board of education will seek approval and funding support from the county commissioners at the meeting on Feb. 1.

"I am very anxious for us to come to an agreement for a plan to go to the county commissioners," said Superintendent Duane Davis. "We have looked at the amount of money that is available and have looked at the plans. "Each school has a facility plan and the architects have drawn new schematics and I hope to look at the plans and make a decision as to what to take to the commissioners," Davis added.

The total amount of money that is available for the board to use for new construction is $2,974,749.
