after severe weather had added a few extra days to the Christmas break.

Postage hike hits this weekThe 32-cent stamp is now about one cent outdated.The U.S. Postal Services rate hike on first class mail took effect Sunday,
Jan. 10, leaving many busy licking one-cent stamps to make up the additional
postage.
Alleghany's requested
The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners learned Monday night that their
additional Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) projects have been put
on hold by the state.
